Long time Gulf Coast favorites Heather and the Monkey King have been delighting, surprising, and astonishing audiences for over 2 decades. Husband and Wife Steven and Heather Harper perform a unique blend of Jazz, Swing, Rockabilly, Uptown Blues, and whatever else they can think of. While they specialize in Jazz (across many different styles), a Heather and the Monkey King show is just as likely to include songs by Julie London, Frank Sinatra, Wes Montgomery, or Elvis, interspersed with tunes from the Mills Brothers, Billie Holliday, Ray Charles, A Flock of Seagulls, Judas Priest, Louis Prima... You name it... and yet, they somehow manage to blend these elements together in a way that Musically makes sense. As the Monkey King likes to say “We’re like nothing you’ve ever seen... unless, you’ve seen us before!”

So what about those who haven’t seen them before? Heather and the Monkey King perform as a duo consisting of Heather Harper, Vocals and Percussion, and Steven Harper, Guitar and Vocals. Their style is sometimes described as “Jazzabilly”- A combination of Jazz, Rockabilly, and Cocktail Lounge Music.

Residing in Mississippi, they perform regularly along the Gulf Coast, at Mardi Gras functions, for parties, weddings, for major conventions and events in New Orleans (including the Nokia Sugar Bowl festivities, at Susan Spicer restaurants, and for a Louis Vuitton corporate party!). They have also toured internationally, and played for crowds large and small in France, Spain, and Morocco.
